Important Information: Preach for the Call

PREACH FOR THE CALL: May 25

A reminder that Session has accepted the Search Committee’s recommendation of a candidate to preach for the call on Sunday May 25. We strongly encourage everyone to attend the service that day as it will not be live streamed.

We will be asking all members to indicate their approval of the Reverend Glenn Kukkola to be called as our minister at St. Andrew’s.

Please find below an introduction to the Reverend Glenn Kukkola:

The Rev. Glenn T. Kukkola, B.Arch., M.Div., was ordained as minister of word and sacrament in The Presbyterian Church in Canada in 2006, prior to which, as a graduate of the University of Toronto School of architecture, he worked for a Toronto-based architectural firm as a senior architectural associate, while also doing lay preaching and working as a youth director at St. Andrews Streetsville while studying at Knox College. Following his graduation from Knox College, Rev. Glenn worked in parish ministry for eight years, serving congregations in Woodstock, Shakespeare, and Brantford, Ontario. An opportunity to teach architecture at a University in Ankara Turkey saw Rev. Glenn relocate to that country in 2015, where he spent over eight years mentoring students and developing courses. In addition to his responsibilities as a lecturer, Rev. Glenn provided pastoral care and guidance for many students in his tutelage.

Having worked among the marginalized on the streets of Toronto and southern Ontario, Rev. Glenn is committed to leading a church that practices radical hospitality and is inclusive of all. He believes in fostering dialogue within the church and ensuring that the church serves the broader community. His sermons are born through a process of careful discernment that involves reflecting on scripture and suggested lectionary readings – as well as what is happening in culture, society, the church and the world. Rev. Glenn believes that what truly matters in worship is not whether the music and liturgy is traditional or contemporary, but rather that they promote a whole and healthy understanding of the Gospel and are relevant to the message and mission of the church to today’s world.

Rev. Glenn is married to Serap and grew up in Mississauga, Ontario. He is a talented guitarist, bassist and songwriter, an amateur astronomer, a tinkerer, and enjoys watching documentaries and doing research on a multitude of topics, especially when it is science or religion related.
