Minister’s Message

The Bible tells the story of God at work in the world. And it is an impressive story. God creates. God saves. God blesses. And it’s a story with some pretty impressive names.

Like Noah, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Moses and Joshua, Samuel, David and Solomon, Peter, Paul and Mary (I think that might be a singing group).

Very impressive! But so impressive, that it can make ordinary humans like you and me feel intimidated. Surely there is no way “ordinary me” could have any significant part, on such an impressive stage, with such an array of impressive characters, in working out God’s plan and purposes for the world. But as you read through the pages of scripture you discover that God used a lot of very ordinary, often obscure and unlikely people, people we can relate to – who end up playing very significant roles in God’s plan and purposes for the world, and often in times and circumstances that were less than ideal, very difficult times. They were people who intentionally and deliberately chose to step into the purposes of God.

Over the next several weeks that I am preaching we’re going to look at several of those “ordinary people”, both women and men who chose to step into the plan and purposes of God and joined Him in His divine work in the world – people like Ruth and Esther, Daniel and Joseph, a teenaged shepherd boy and even a young child. The point is GOD CAN USE ANYONE – EVEN YOU!

And BTW, how do you keep in touch and connect with God and His plan and purposes for the world? Rev. Linda is talking to us about the practice of PRAYER. She began last week, (Jan.16), with messages based on the Lord’s prayer. If you missed those messages, check them out on our website, or call the office to arrange to receive printed copies.

Blessings, Rev. Bob
